Your Three Step Vocabulary Program - Enhance Your Way with Words

Have you ever thought of using a vocabulary program to expand your language skills? Whether you have or have not yet, doing so would be incredibly beneficial to you if you feel that your way with words is holding you back.

Quick Quiz

How Many
Did You Know?

Flashcards like these are my favorite way to learn new words. There are quite a few programs and courses out there you can use to build your vocabulary this way, but if you want to know my absolute favorite Click Here.
You are far from the only one to believe that though because vocabulary building seems to be a major area of concern in terms of language skills today.

Whatever the reason for that, using the following three steps to help you to enhance your way with words should be committed to memory because it is the most effective way of doing so.

Step One – Learn the Word

Identify words that you do not know and concentrate on learning them. Although vocabulary lists are not very useful because people tend to use them to commit words to memory with no particular context, feel free to make a list of words that you feel you should know but do not.

It may be that you have read the words in a book or newspaper. It may be that you have heard them used on TV. No matter where you have got them from, write down the word in the context it has been used and learn it.

Step Two – Learn its Use

The second step in the vocabulary program is a natural extension of the first step. Now you have learned the word, learn how to use it. This is where writing down the context of the word is important because it enables you to move seamlessly from step one to step two. A word alone cannot expand your vocabulary but it can if it is placed in context.

For example, learning “etymology” on its own is meaningless and offers you no vocabulary expansion but learning “etymology is the study of not only words but also their history” will do.

Step Three – Start to Use It

The third step is pretty simple providing that you have followed steps one and two perfectly. If you know a word and how to use it then all you have to do is make sure that you take advantage of this knowledge. Not only will your language skills and vocabulary knowledge increase but you will also be able to make a better first impression by using your new vocabulary bank effectively.

Whether you choose to use a DIY vocabulary program or one of those that are available for you to purchase today, such as the excellent software programs available, you should use this three step program.

All of the best software packages will utilize this particular method because it is simple and effective so committing it to memory now will certainly help you to achieve the best results possible in the coming years.
