Word Search Puzzle Guide

"Although not everyone considers them 'serious' word puzzles,
the word search puzzle may be even more popular than the crossword."

Word Searches For Dummies

Wordsearch Puzzles are a great way to improve spelling, vocabulary, and general knowledge, as well as being a popular way to celebrate special occasions. And, let's face it, they can also be a good way to keep the kids occupied for a while ;-)

If you've stopped by because you've got a bit of time to kill, and you want to solve a puzzle, you might like to try your hand at one of my feature wordsearches. These puzzles are more advanced than the sort you generally find on the web. I've designed them specifically for older children and adults who have a particular bent for word games like Crosswords, Scrabble, or Spelling Bees.

Here's one I designed to reinforce the spelling of some frequently misspelled words...

WARNING!

You must use a Java enabled browser to solve this puzzle.

If you're here looking for some pre-made, ready-to-go wordsearch puzzles, I've put together a small set of freebies for you. I've organized them around several popular word themes, like Halloween, Christmas, and Books of the Bible, making it quick and easy for you to find a wordsearch puzzle in a hurry.

If you're anything like me, though, you'll find that other people's puzzles are never exactly what you're looking for. Maybe they're too difficult or too easy, or perhaps they just don't have the precise theme you're looking for.

Sound like you? In that case, I would recommend that you make your own puzzles, like I do for this site. I have put together a bunch of tips, including a demonstration of a very good wordsearch maker that will help you whip up a good puzzle in a few minutes.
