Word hits on 2 double words

I have a word that hit two different "double words". Does the score get doubled 2 times?

Hi Robin - In short, yes. If a word spans two double word squares, you get 2x2 = 4 times the score for the word. You'll often hear Scrabble players refer to this sort of play as a 'double-double' or 'four-timer'.

You might also be interested to know that if you play a word that spans two triple word squares, you score 3x3 = 9 times the word's score! This play (called a 'triple-triple' or 'nine-timer') is considered the holy grail of Scrabble.

Thanks for asking a nice easy one Robin. I hope that answers it.
