Playing separated letters

Hello, having a heated discussion about whether the following is allowed in Scrabble. Can you help?

I would like to add a 'T' and 'C' to make the words TIC and TAXES, as shown in the board above. Is this allowed?

Hi there Michael - You'll be pleased to know your move is perfectly legal.

So long as the letters you play are all in the same row/column (which T and C are), form a single valid word in that row/column (TIC here), and any other words (if any) formed in the process are valid (TAXES here), all is good in the world ;-)
