MBAQANGA

by Enoch Yuen
(Hong Kong)

Dancers under the mbaqanga music.

Dancers under the mbaqanga music.

Word Meaning — n. pl-s. A South African dance music.

"A style of South African music with rural Zulu roots that continues to influence musicians worldwide today. The style originated in the early 1960s." — Wiki

Why I Think It's A Cool Word — It's the only word starting with MB- in the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary (4th Edition). Also, it has a combination of -QA- inside the word which is quite rare.

Hi there Enoch - A cool word indeed. And a cool pic to boot!

Just a small correction: MBIRA is another MB- word allowed in the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary. It also relates to African music - specifically, it is an African musical instrument.

All the best,
