Did you know that the greatest obstacle that many people face when asking “how do I improve my English vocabulary?” is not the level of the words they attempt to learn to enhance their vocabulary but using them on a daily basis?

It may come as a surprise to find out that the main obstacle is the context in which the words learned are used but study after study of people of all ages highlight that this is the case. Every other person uses at least one word in the wrong context per day and this can seriously damage the individual’s ability to create a good impression, communicate effectively and get on in life.

This information may startle some people but not others. After all, improving vocabulary is no easy task. You have to consider the word itself, make sure that you use it in the right area of the sentence and, above all, use it correctly. If you fail to do so then what you say may not only be irrelevant but contradict what you are trying to say altogether. Imagine that you are applying for a job and use key terms in the wrong place. To do this, you need to be able to learn the meaning of the word and how to use it effectively. This can actually be a lot more difficult than you think because no dictionary or reference tool actually demonstrates the context of use. All you get is the meaning and have to fill in the blanks yourself. Well, you did but that no longer has to be the case.
