Age is often given as an excuse as to why an individual cannot do something that may actually serve to enhance his or her life.

It may be that someone in their 30s believes that it is too late to embark upon a new career or someone in their 50s believes that it is too late in life to learn a new skill.

• Open career doors – If you are retired then this may not necessarily apply to you, unless you are looking for a stimulating and interesting part time job of course.
  
  However, if you are working and want to earn more or do something for a living that interests you then improving your vocabulary can and will give you more opportunities to switch than you may think. Not only will you be able to create a better first impression but you will also be able to impress on recruiters your desire to learn.


• Get back into school – Retirees are now looking for pastimes that will engage them and ensure that their golden years are more fun than they would otherwise be. In addition, people in their 30s, 40s and 50s are looking to improve their skills and qualifications.
  
  Taking a few courses at college can help an individual to achieve either but not if you do not get in. Choosing to build your vocabulary will enhance your application and may well open doors that would otherwise remain locked.


• Help the next generation – Do you want to provide children and grandchildren with a place to turn when they need help for school without feeling like a dunce? Improving your vocabulary is a must if the answer is yes.
